Are you tired of the same old political games? Tired of those in power putting their interest over yours? Many in this town are and so is Nick Sturgeon!
Over the past three years the unfinished Wilshaw Hotel project has been an eyesore and a black eye for the Town of Speedway and its residence. Since the issues with the orginial development group, the Town and the Council have failed to anything about it. Now after all this time, the best option the Council and the Town Manager could come up with is to loan $2.5 Million to a new development group. Their grand plan is to put us as taxpayers on the hook? The current Town Council will spin this move as a Win for the town. This is just a political move in an election year. The truth is, this nothing more than putting you as the taxpayer on the hook for their mistake. It is just one example of the Council’s ineffectiveness, inefficiency, and is one of many that has the citizens of this town frustrated with our local government operates.
Nick will bring fresh ideas, new perspectives, and, most importantly, leadership to the town council. As an independent, Nick is not beholden to a party or special interest groups. He puts principles over politics and is for representing the people of Speedway.
Nick was one of a handful of people to publicly speak out to hold the Town Council accountable for the funding in Ordinance 1371 to use $2.5 million of TIF dollars to fund HE Speedway Owners, LLC. Nick will also fight for what is right! It’s time for a change!!! It’s time to vote for new leadership.
Nick Sturgeon is the change and leader that this town needs. A vote for Nick is a vote for Speedway!!
Nick is a long time Speedway resident, having first moved to town in 2006. Dedicated to public service, he is spent nearly a decade in law enforcement as an Indiana State Police Trooper and Speedway PD Reserve Officer. In total, Nick spent 10 years serving the State of Indiana as a state employee. Nick continues to do so as a long-standing advisory member of Governor Eric Holcomb's Indiana Executive Cybersecurity Council. For that past 8 years, he has been fighting cybercrime, helping private companies protect their systems and data. Nick is also involved in the community. He coached Speedway Junior Softball for several years, is a member of the Madison #44 Masonic Lodge, a member of the Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, a member of the Speedway Lions Club, and serves as a board member for several not-for-profit cyber industry organization.
Come November 14, 2023, vote for Speedway by casting your vote for Nick Sturgeon!
These are the four key pillars to Nick's campaign:
Public Safety
Without a doubt Speedway is a safe town in which to live and do business. Our crime rates are low, experiencing very little violent crime, especially compared to Indianapolis. However, with the year-over-year high violent crime rate in Marion County, we must continue to support our public safety agencies to make sure we remain a safe town. This requires supporting our Fire and Police Departments by keeping them properly funded, equipped, and staffed.
Schools
Year after year, the Speedway School system is among the top school districts in the county, state and country. Ensuring our students continue to receive the highest quality education is paramount. As parents we put a lot of faith and trust in our teachers, who spend as much, if not more, time with our kids as we do. As parents we must hold our school districts accountable for the curriculum that is being taught. Funding is always a big issue for the Speedway Schools, especially as it relates to paying teachers and staff. We must hold the school administration accountable for every dollar spent.
Effective & Small Government
For government to work for the people, it must be transparent. When those in power operate behind closed doors corruption is sure to follow. Those in power must be held accountable for their actions and decisions. Decisions that affect our lives should not made away from public view. Public input must be heard and taken into consideration. Our elected officials work for the people, not the other way around. It is just that simple.

From the inaction on the Willshaw Hotel, to lack of transparency, lack of communication, and a lack of leadership, it is time for new representation on the town council. Nick will bring fresh ideas, new perspectives, and most importantly leadership to the town council. As an independent, Nick is not
