IMPD asks truck drivers to avoid low railroad bridge on S. Meridian St.

IMPD is asking commercial drivers to plan routes around a railroad bridge near 300 S. Meridian St. downtown, which has a clearance of 12 feet, 4 inches. Police say officers have responded to more and more trucks getting stuck under or stalling at the bridge, which backs up traffic.

IMPD recommends truck navigation apps that flag low clearances. For north-south trips, police list these alternatives: Washington St. west to West St.; Maryland St. to S. Pennsylvania St. or S. East St.; or South St. to bypass the bridge.
