IMPD's Overdose Death Task Force, working with the DEA, Indiana State Police and Beech Grove police, served search warrants at several Indianapolis locations Oct. 21. Investigators seized more than 1,500 pounds of unprocessed mushrooms, plus psilocybin edibles, drinks and dried product, along with seven guns, $9,500 in cash, six pounds of marijuana and hundreds of counterfeit pills. Justice Department says election monitors will be in all 50 states; county to meet with DOJ next week

New since Friday's edition: A Justice Department spokesperson told Mirror Indy that monitors will be in all 50 states, not only Marion and Lake counties. The notice to Marion County arrived late Oct. 21 at the clerk's general email. The clerk's office said it still has not been told why the county was selected. The election board and the department plan to meet next week.

A letter from a Civil Rights Division attorney says monitors observe and report suspected violations of federal law and do not interfere with voting. Poll workers are to call an internal hotline if anyone without a county election board credential is present. The county has an eight-page policy for its nearly 3,000 poll workers.

Julia Vaughn of Common Cause Indiana said she is concerned the monitors could intimidate voters. The Marion County Democratic Party said it has faith in the clerk's office. The Indiana Secretary of State's office and the Marion County Republican Party did not respond to Mirror Indy.
